Opportunity Zones: Clarity on the Most Talked-About Tax Incentive Program of 2019

A provision in the 2017 tax reform legislation allows individual and corporate investors to defer capital gains tax until 2026, if those gains are reinvested into new construction or major rehabilitation of projects in economically depressed areas via designated opportunity funds. These tax incentives are already luring investment and development dollars into nearly 9,000 opportunity zones across the country. Momentum has accelerated this year, even in advance of the finalized guidance from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the IRS. From this expert panel, attendees will gain clarity on the specific tax benefits being offered under this program, what the new guidance mean and the criteria to be met by investors to quality for the tax incentives.
