On August 6th, the MBAofNY Board was invited to take part in the Opening Bell of the New York Stock Exchange.  Thanks to our long-time supporters, Stewart Title, our Board Members were treated to a breakfast spread and Economic Forecast presentation let by Mr. Ted Jones PhD, and Residential Insight by Scott Gillen. The overall tone of the Forecast was very positive in regards to the US economy and national real estate.  Keeping the positive momentum going, Ted let the group down to the floor of the NYSE where they prepared to witness STIFEL’s honorary ring.  The market started off strong and ended on a positive, after the prior day’s dip.

The Board was then escorted down to the museum where behind a glass case, surrounded by a steel-art replica of the Buttonwood Tree, stood the original Buttonwood Agreement; signed by 24 stockbrokers outside of 68 Wall Street.  Down the hall, the Board entered the NYSE’s very own Board Room.  In the entrance hall stands the original Trading Floor Clock that would begin and track the daily trades at 5 minute periods; through the grand hall in the back left corner the NYSE showcases the 7-foot Faberge urn gifted to the Exchange by Czar Nicolas II of Russia as a token of gratitude.

As such, the Board and the Association would like to thank Ted Jones, and Stewart Title for this unique opportunity, and for the time spent with us on that day.
